Dai Vi Lam, Vietnam

First, I am an international student from Vietnam, and I was  a student of Westgate CVI in Thunder Bay in grade 12. The reason I chose Thunder Bay is because it is a city with a low cost of living compared to bigger cities, so I saved a lot of money. Moreover, living in Thunder Bay gave me a chance to communicate with many English speakers because there is only a small community of Vietnamese in Thunder Bay which is what I wanted. I was forced to speak English only and it help me to improve my English skills a lot, more than it would have in a larger city with more Vietnamese students. I usually played the guitar, read a book and play cards with my hosts in my free time, they were so great to me. In winter, my hosts taught me how to skate on the ice and he also gave me a chance to try golf before I leave. I used to play badminton in the school club too, it was fun. Since I have been Canada, I learned many things from my school and my host family. I know how to cook Vietnamese food and even Canadian food or Italian food because my host taught me a lot about cooking skills. I also became more independent and much better at taking care of myself. I will graduate this year and I will join Durham College in Oshawa for Supply Chain Management. I will miss Thunder Bay.
